Back in Time ... Cabos Baby!!!

It has been AGES since I've been here ... someone is very displeased with my lack of efforts!  It has been a busy, busy month ... packing, unpacking, laundry, packing, unpacking, laundry and let's just throw in teaching an online course at the last minute for good measure.

In an effort to catch up, I'll just debrief and then let the pictures speak their 1000 words.

We went to Los Cabos for the break this year ... a new destination for us.  We were worried...the weather was not looking up to our standards.  We actually contemplated changing EVERYTHING five days before departure.  Thankfully we decided to take our chances ... we made the RIGHT decision.  Cabos was absolutely stunning!  The resort was top notch, the beach spectacular and I can't even begin to tell you how amazing it was to see whales jumping out of the water from our balcony, our pool spot and our beachfront lunch location.  We enjoyed evening cocktails and had fabulous meals before each 'showtime' (there were even after show cocktails).  Whatever the activity she was 'Still awake!".  Cadence took to the kids club from day 1 ... leaving Sean and I to fend for ourselves for most of the day ... we actually got to missing her!  She danced on stage and received awards for all her 'work' every night.  We all  made wonderful friendships and look forward to reunions this summer.
Most importantly we made many more memories ......

A Story to Share When She's Older

This is one of those things you don't want to forget and that you want to remind your child about someday ... when they are an 'adult'.

A wee friend of Cadence's brought a beer bottle to school this week ... an empty one.  Why you ask?
To play Spin the Bottle of course!  Can't say Cadence was an innocent bystander!  Please put her back in the little fenced yard at school!!!!
The family meeting that followed went well.  Marcus made them do it!  Lord give me strength ... I am going to need it!

Recent 'Stuff'

We've had a quieter month ... and we are just FINE with that!  I don't even think there was one birthday party to attend ... yay!!!  It doesn't mean there wasn't any fun ....

There were sleepovers ...

which led to sleeping on the way home!

There were heart shaped pancakes,

heart felt words expressed,

and almost a heart stopping dinner ... LOL!!!

There was gourmet cooking ...

which also meant cleaning.

There was slipping and sliding

and holiday shopping!

Move Over Einstein ...

On our walk back to the car after shopping and spending about $60 Cadence made the following statement:

"Mom, you would need 12 fives for $60."

She's halfway through grade one.

Yep ... a genius!!!   LOL

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Cadence has been showing a lot more interest in her culture lately.  We appreciated that her teacher supported it by incorporating the teaching of multicultural festivals within the Christmas unit AND with a special focus on Chinese New Year.  Thank you Mrs. G!!!

We realized it was time WE acknowledged and celebrated Cadence's culture as a family.  We rallied some friends for our first Chinese New Year's party ... in a not so traditional way.  Small steps ....

We cleaned and swept out the bad luck
and hung the lanterns.

Cadence prepared the table with plates, chopsticks, napkins
and red envelopes.

Nothing says 'Happy New Year' like a friendly game of
street hockey.  Just where are the children?

Kudos to everyone for giving chopsticks a chance!

2013:  The Year of the Snake

We went with 'jets' in place of fireworks.

And snow diving ... just 'cause they could!

The final thaw...

We see continued good fortune for all our
friends and family and an even bigger
bash in 2014!
