Happy Mother's Day!

Exactly two years ago, we were excited to share the news of our adoption with our friends and family (unbeknownest to us mom was even having a Chinese feast for Mother's Day)! Exactly two years ago, we had our first home visit by our social worker. Exactly two years ago, the feature story on the cover of our 'complimentary' newspaper that we found on our doorstep was of a local family who had adopted a girl from China. Two years ago we thought our referral would arrive before the next Mother's Day and that we would be parents within the year. That was then ..... this is now! Today is not a day of celebration for me but it is for many of you and I wish you all a lovely day!!!
MOM ... hope you had a GREAT day .....

Sean's Thoughts

While muddling around the desktop of my computer I came across the following piece written by Sean ...
Each year he introduces public speaking to his class by writing one of his own. This is an exerpt from this
year's ... I think he has a gift, what do you think???????

The Quest for Cadence by Sean Kearney

Somewhere in the north end of ******** a couple is in the process of
changing a chic guest room into a nursery. The fancy furniture and
decorations are giving way to a crib, a change table and a baby dresser.
The once empty closet is now being filled with clothes for all seasons and
toys for any possible interest. Paintings and other works of art are being
replaced with pictures of cartoon characters. Although there is a great deal
of excitement and anticipation the question still exists: Who is the
little girl who will live here?

Somewhere 4000 miles away in the rural provinces of China a baby lies
in a crib. Although she probably sleeps peacefully and is provided with the
necessities of life, she is deprived of having the one gift all of us are
entitled to, that being love. Each day babies, mostly girls are dropped off
at the doors of orphanages by women unable to care for them. Their
hope is that somebody either in their country or far away will give
them that gift.
Somewhere lies a little girl who is soon going to find herself leaving the orphanage
for that newly decorated nursery. That girls’ name is Cadence.

Good afternoon class, I wish I could bring in pictures or even the little
girl herself, but due to various complications in China I am unable to
provide this, but in the meantime I thought I’d tell you all about
the “Quest for Cadence”.

Note: There will be no cartoon characters in this nursery!!!!! Really!

18 Month Ultrasound

Yes, today marks yet another month gone by since our file arrived and was logged in China! We are now one year past our 'due date' ... unbelievable! All of the predictability and stability of the China program has long since ceased to exist. We continue to wait and wait and wait ... hopefully not much longer. Perhaps in a few weeks we will receive our first glimpse of Cadence .... perhaps not! Who knows???? Anyone ..... ???

Back to Work!

In 12 hours they will be back to work after a weeks' holiday.
Somewhere, behind the doors, in the matching room, lies our file and our child's (oooh ... felt a little chill there!).
Where does it sit on these shelves? My guess .... about the 550th one down from the top ...

Apparently the average number of matches per month has been between 400 and 600. Once again folks, we may be in or we
may be out. I am thinking we will be out given the holiday time, however, it is my understanding that the actually matching is
done during one week in each month. What am I saying? ... I have NO idea what will happen! I am prepared for a June or July
referral. If there is another 2 day kind of batch ... well ... I'm NOT prepared for that! Check back in about 3-4 weeks time!

My Latest "PIECE"

Kudos to Frank for a wonderful masterpiece!!!

The bookshelf is MASSIVE, but it works in the room! Now I just have to paint and 'stock' it with books and baskets. AND I think Barbie will fit perfectly one day as well.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend ... the sunshine is spectacular here ... the buds are starting to open and everywhere you look it is green! I'm off to camp with the students Monday and will likely be suffering from Blog/RQ withdrawal (among other things!) Good thing this is the slow time of the month where rumours are concerned!

Oh, and the 100 post thing ... there's no way I can manage that ... maybe I've managed 100 words ............

PS - I've updated my sidebar a bit ... you MUST check out the video on the CARR Family blog ... WARNING: Tissue required!

All I wanna do ......

All I really want to do after this hectic week is sit back, enjoy a good night of tv drama with a big, bold, beautiful glass of red wine! But NO! I have to play hockey tonight! Not only will I miss Grey's ... I will miss a 2 HOUR Greys! I am totally exhausted beyond belief ... and those of you who know I went to the show this afternoon can just be quiet! To make matters worse, Sean is away tonight and I actually don't know how to use the VCR, so I can't even catch up.

Wish I had more interesting items to discuss, but .... all I've been doing is WORKING!!! According to the data on this blog, my next entry will be my hundredth ... traditionally bloggers have used that entry to tell 100 things about themselves ... hmmm ... not sure I'll be able to do that ... it will definitely have to be a weekend thing!
Off to 'tidy' ... the 'other' housekeeper comes tomorrow!
