Decisions, Decisions ....

Sean and I have been racking our brains and seeking assistance around a few decisions with respect to travel. First we needed to decide whether to book a seat for Cadence on the way back ($$$). At the onset, we were committed to doing so for a number of reasons; convenience being the major factor, but after several responses to my queries, we decided to forego it and hope for the best ... yikes! Yes, it's 13 hours, but it will end and we will survive! Then we came to realize the others from our
group have decided to fly a day early to combat some of the jet lag ... hmmm! Our main focus was safety in numbers ... we don't want to be all alone at that big, foreign airport so ...... it looks like we will fly out on the 30th instead (providing there is room on the plane) and still return home on September 13th.
We met with our family doctor yesterday and our SW and both gave us no reason to decline our referral so, our acceptance letter and documents were dropped off at UPS this morning ... this is really happening!!!!

Of course it's happening!!!

Having been there done that twice, good decision to go earlier! It's nice to kinda get your bearings before you meet your new daughter. We didn't get a seat for Nicole coming home (she was about the same age as Cadence) - didn't need it at all. We DID get a seat for Sophia because she was 18 mths old - didn't really need it there either because she spent most of the time in my lap! Save yourself the $700 or $800 (whatever it costs nowadays).

Isn't it so much fun making all these decisions now??!!! *grin*

Congratulations again!

Thinking back over our two adoption trips (the first one where we did not buy a seat for Baby, the second one where we did), I think that if you can easily afford it, then buy the seat. But if money is causing you any anxiety at all, don't buy it and tough it out.

Request bulkhead for the ride back and you'll get extra leg room. You need to do this when you make your reservations, since there are only a few bulkhead seats. There are also bulkhead bassinets available but your child has to be really small to fit in them. Our first daughter was 28 inches and 18 pounds on her ride home and she barely fit in the bassinet. Still, it was great to have.

What fun to be making travel plans and packing bags! This is really happening!
